Marlon Jansen is a Ph.D. student and an Adjunct Professor in Biology at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York, where he researches neurodegenerative disorders of the brain. Marlon has more than 12 years of experience teaching at the college level, and he currently teaches Human Anatomy and Physiology to students at Hunter College.

An avid fan of American football, European soccer, British television, and Japanese Anime, Marlon is also an excellent cook. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and a minor in Chemistry from Hunter College, CUNY.

Dr. James Richie is an English professor at Queens College, CUNY, where he teaches American and British literature. He earned his Master of Arts from Boston College and his Ph.D. in English from Northeastern University in 2013, where he successfully defended his dissertation on contemporary American poetry.

From his native Virginia to New York, James has more than 12 years experience as a teacher at the college level. He currently teaches writing and poetry at Queens College.

Antoinette

Antoinette Jones is an adjunct lecturer in the English Department at John Jay College, CUNY. She earned her M.A. in Intercultural Studies and Teaching English as a Second Language at Columbia International University. She has more than 12 years of experience teaching at the college level.

A native New Yorker, Antoinette enjoys traveling and learning languages. She has visited 12 countries and is fluent in French and Japanese.

Hilarie

Hilarie Ashton is a doctoral student in English at the CUNY Graduate Center, and she teaches composition and literature at Queens College. Her academic work has appeared in Anamesa and Journal of Popular Culture. She received her MA in Humanities & Social Thought from NYU and her BA in English and Philosophy from Williams College.

Hilarie moonlights as a yoga teacher, and in her spare time, she balances mind and body with kickboxing.

Dr. Kevin Cooney, a former English professor at Queens College, CUNY, founded Better Edge Tutoring in 2013. He earned his Master of Arts and Ph.D. in English from UCLA in 2010. Kevin has more than 12 years of experience teaching at the college level and has worked as a tutor since 2012.

A fan of Sudoku, scrambled word games, puzzles, and mysteries, Kevin enjoys designing websites and creating spreadsheets. He has worked as an Academic Counselor, a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), and the New York State Association of College Admission Counselors (NYSACAC).

Adeodat

Dr. Adeodat Ilboudo is a postdoctoral fellow at Hunter College, where she is studying the mechanisms of metastasis in solid cancers. Her research focuses mainly on prostate cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. She earned her Ph.D. in Biology and Health Sciences in 2013, at the University of Rennes 1 in France. She has taught a number of classes in Microbiology.

Adeodat loves walking and cooking. She is a great fan of comedies, and enjoys dancing and listening to music.

Ezekiel

Ezekiel Montgomery earned his Master of Arts in English Education from Columbia University Teachers College. A state-certified teacher with 5 years experience, Ezekiel has a passion for tailoring instruction to students’ individual learning styles. He is currently working towards additional teaching certifications in TESOL (ESL) and special education.

In his free time, Ezekiel coaches recreational volleyball.

Amy Zhu

Amy Zhu earned her MS in Organic Chemistry from Iowa State University. She did her research in organometallic catalysis and published 5 high impact papers in her field. Amy has a strong passion for teaching and has been teaching Math and Chemistry to middle school, high school, and college students. In addition, she also specializes in standardized test preparation. She has helped many students gain confidence and improve considerably in both their understanding of the subject matter as well as their test taking skills.

In her spare time, Amy enjoys outdoor activities. She is a an avid hiker and a fan of oldies music and movies.
